Estée Lauder adds a new companion to its star serum , the new Advanced Night Repair Intense Reset Concentrate, coming to the market this August 2019.

According to The Moodie Davitt Report, it is a “powerful overnight treatment that rescues irritated and stressed out skin in just one hour“.

The formula is claimed to contain a patented mix of Salicylic Acid and Resveratrol (targetting the three phases of irritation), a “concentrated purification technology”, and the Chronolux technology already used in the classic ANR serum. It also includes a multi-molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid, and anti-oxidants.

Estée Lauder claims that the serum reduces the visible signs of irritation within 1 hour, and leaves skin hydrated and nourished for 24 hours.

A screening of the ingredient list of this ANR Intense Repair Concentrates reveals the structure of the formula : it is an emulsified gel of Sepimax Zen from Seppic (Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6) mainly made of :

  • Silicones : Dimethicone is the 2nd most concentrated ingredient after water in the formula, which also contains other silicones : Methyl Trimethicone, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Polysilicone-11)
  • Glycols : Glycerin is #3 on the ingredient list, Butylene Glycol, followed by various Ethoxylated (PEG) and Propoxylated (PPG) ingredients (like the silicones listed above, and PPG-15 Stearyl Ether)

I am not extremely clear on the intent of this new addition to the ANR line. One could be to add a rapid action product, compared to the classic serum which is a “all life” product. Another could be to answer specific needs of women of today : stressed and irritated skin. Anyway, any new addition to a star line-up is always an opportunity to build some buzz.
